DC is always a good idea and I’m lucky to have friends living in such an amazing town!
During this past adventure, we managed to take a ride up to the top of the Washington Monument where I spied my main man Mr. Lincoln Below. We walked through the Botanical Gardens (such a relief from the frigid winds!) and even spied the National Christmas Tree. The Tree was kind of sad (where’s the top?!) and we were really confused by the state signs (is Texas a commonwealth?), but one tree inside The Willard displayed all the Presidential Ornaments from Christmases past. 1988 was meh.
Back outside peaceful protestors gathered on the platform of police brutality. My friends weren’t too thrilled in my asking if we could walk by, but we did a quick stroll through on our way to the Library of Congress where we took in an ABT exhibit in the John Adams Building.
As always, we retired to Callie’s apartment where more friends gathered and we indulged in a good food, drinks and desserts and played Mindy Kaling’s card game to cap off the night.
There and back, between my comfy Amtrak seat and the cramped situation on Megabus, I took sneak shots of weary passengers and listened to Serial (finally) on my iPad.
Oh how I love to travel!
