A Short, Biased Recap of the 2014 Golden Globes

The Golden Globes aired last night with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler at the helm, and while the award show had it’s ups (Emma Thompson, Fey, Poehler) and its downs (looking at you Jacqueline Bisset), the spread of award wins all but sets the unpredictable stage for the upcoming Oscar nominations this Thursday.

Here’s Emma Thompson, on stage, barefoot and expertly holding a martini…

Congrats on my new favorite comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine (called it!) on their multiple wins but I couldn’t help but wonder why (for the upteenth time) The Mindy Project wasn’t even nominated.

I disagree with the acting awards for American Hustle. Amy Adams was subpar and while Jennifer Lawrence killed it (in the positive sense of the slang term), Lupita Nyong’o definitely out-shined in 12 Years a Slave. Speaking of, the twitter reaction to 12 Years a Slave finally winning Best Motion Picture Drama was well worth the suspenseful wait.

And how can we forget Tina Fey’s “son” named Randy who often wondered who his father was…Idris Elba?
