Two literary inspired movies on the docket today. First up is Trishna, a modern and Indian interpretation of Thomas Hardy's classic novel Tess of the D'Urbevilles starring Frieda Pinto from Slumdog Millionaire and Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Riz Ahmed who will star in Mira Nair's new film The Reluctant Fundamentalist. It looks like your typical boy meets girl from different socioeconomic backgrounds and fall in love but with that modern Indian flair and dash of controversy. I'm personally excited to see Ms. Pinto expand on her emotional range when it comes to acting.
Second up is The Words starring Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Olivia Wilde, Dennis Quaid and Jeremy Irons. This cross generational story focuses on the emotional trappings and struggles of a burgeoning writer, the story he aims to write and discovers instead, and the lives he touches and interrupts along the way. It'll be interesting to see what chemistry exists between Saldana and Cooper. I especially enjoyed the starring titles at the end of this trailer from a design and typography perspective but am sorry for the ad in front.
Happy [Movie] Trailer Tuesday everyone!
